Smt. Shruthi Raghavendra

Bharatanatyam Guru  ·  Kalakshetra Style  ·  Nrithyakshetra, Bangalore

Disciple of Guru Vidushi Bindumathi Bebick

Smt. Shruthi Raghavendra’s journey in the classical arts was shaped by a deep and abiding love for both music and dance. She trained in classical vocal music under Vidwan Narasimha Murthi, and received her foundational dance training under Guru Vidushi Rekha Dinesh at the renowned Benaka Natya Mandira, Bangalore.

Drawn by a profound calling to master the tradition in its fullest depth, she went on to undertake intensive Guru‑Shishya Parampara training in Bharatanatyam under Guru Vidushi Bindumathi Bebick, a dedicated journey of more than seven years, culminating in her Arangetram in 2015.

She holds Vidwath and Post‑Graduate Diploma certifications in the Kalakshetra style, with rigorous grounding in the theoretical pillars of classical dance, the Natyashastra and Abhinaya, equipping her with both the technical mastery and the scholarly depth the tradition demands.

Her contribution to the art was formally recognised when she served as a teacher and trainer at Bharatham Academy, Bangalore, working under the direct guidance of her Guru, an honour that stands as prestigious validation of her artistry and her commitment to the classical tradition.

Our Story

Born from a Deep Love for the Classical Tradition

Nrithyakshetra was founded with one clear conviction: that Bharatanatyam, India’s oldest and most complete classical dance form, deserves to be taught and practised with full integrity at every level of training.

The name tells the story. Nrithyakshetra, “the hallowed field of dance”, reflects our belief that every class, every practice, every performance is an act of devotion. Dance here is not entertainment. It is offering.

Located in HSR Layout, Bangalore, we serve families and learners from across south Bangalore, drawn by the quality of classical instruction and the authentic, devotional environment we provide.

Our Philosophy

The Whole Dancer. The Complete Human Being.

We train students not just in the technique of classical dance, but in the full depth of the tradition, its rhythm, philosophy, and devotional heart.

Bhakti – Devotion

Every adavu, every mudra, every expression is understood as an offering. We cultivate a devotional relationship with the art from the very first class.

Anushasan – Discipline

Classical training demands sustained, patient practice. We build the habit of discipline with warmth and firmness, helping students discover what true consistency produces.

Parampara – Lineage

We hold the guru-shishya tradition with deep respect. Our curriculum is rooted in the Kalakshetra lineage, one of India's most revered schools of Bharatanatyam.

Our Mission

Preserving a Living Tradition for Future Generations

India’s classical arts represent one of the most extraordinary intellectual and spiritual achievements in human history. The Natya Shastra, compiled over two thousand years ago, contains a complete science of movement, rhythm, expression, and aesthetic experience.

At Nrithyakshetra, we understand our role as custodians of this tradition. Every student who learns here becomes part of an unbroken chain of transmission stretching back through centuries of guru-shishya relationships to the devadasi dancers of Tamil Nadu’s great temples.

Dance is the hidden language of the soul. Bharatanatyam is one of the most complete vocabularies ever devised for that language.
