What Happens in a Weekend Session
A typical weekend session at Nrithyakshetra runs for 60 to 90 minutes depending on the level. The class begins with warm-up exercises and stretching, moves into adavu practice (the foundational rhythmic footwork sequences of Bharatanatyam), then progresses to the learning or refinement of a composition, and ends with cool-down and reflection.
More advanced students will work on abhinaya (expressive storytelling), margam pieces, or arangetram preparation during this time. Beginners will focus on adavus, basic mudras (hand gestures), and tala (rhythmic cycle) understanding.
