Britain has the oldest and most established Bharatanatyam scene outside India, and also the longest waiting lists. Families outside the London-Leicester-Birmingham triangle often find the nearest serious teacher is an hour's drive each way, twice a week. Nrithyakshetra teaches UK students live from Bengaluru, in small batches, with the same syllabus and the same guru our HSR Layout studio students learn from.

Class Timings for United Kingdom

India is 4.5 hours ahead of the UK in summer and 5.5 hours ahead in winter, the smallest gap of any major Western NRI destination, and the reason the UK gets the most usable slots of anywhere we teach abroad.

Wednesday & Friday60 minutes6:00 to 7:00 PM IST1:30 PM - 2:30 PM
Sunday90 minutes3:00 to 4:30 PM IST10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

The Sunday batch is the one most British families take: it runs late morning UK time, which suits children perfectly. The Wednesday and Friday batches fall in the early afternoon, school hours for most children, so they mainly suit adult learners, home-schooled students and sixth-formers with free periods. In winter every time below shifts an hour earlier.

A 4.5-hour gap makes the UK unusually easy to teach into. The Sunday class is 90 minutes and lands mid-morning to midday your time, which is why it fills first. British Summer Time and Indian time both stay put through the year except for the UK's own October and March changes, which we absorb on our side.

Time zones covered: GMT in winter, BST in summer. Local times above are shown for summer time where a country observes it. If none of these suit your household, tell us the window that does, we open a dedicated slot when a few families in one zone ask for the same time.

Where Our United Kingdom Students Are

UK Indian families tend to know exactly what they are asking for, many parents learned Bharatanatyam themselves, in Chennai or in Harrow, and they can tell a properly held araimandi from a decorative one. We are comfortable with that scrutiny. Our teaching is Kalakshetra-rooted, the corrections are real corrections, and progress is graded rather than performance-driven.

How Our Online Classes Work

Free trial first

We start with a free trial session at a United Kingdom-friendly time so you can meet the guru and test your setup before paying anything.

Live, never recorded

Every class is a live video session. The guru watches your posture and rhythm on screen and corrects you in the moment, exactly as in the studio.

The same graded syllabus

Adavus, mudras, tala, abhinaya and margam repertoire, in the same order our HSR Layout students learn them, plus Sanskrit shlokas if you want them.

Small batches

Batches are deliberately small so every student is seen and corrected each week. One-to-one slots are available if you prefer.

Fees & Payment from United Kingdom

Online Bharatanatyam Classes in United Kingdom, FAQs

Do you offer online Bharatanatyam classes in United Kingdom?

Yes. Nrithyakshetra teaches students across United Kingdom through live online Bharatanatyam classes, taught from our academy in HSR Layout, Bengaluru. Classes are live video sessions with a classically trained guru, not pre-recorded videos, and follow the same graded curriculum as our studio batches. We teach students in London (Harrow, Wembley, Croydon, East Ham), Birmingham, Leicester, Manchester and elsewhere in United Kingdom.

What are the class timings for students in United Kingdom?

Our timetable is Wednesday and Friday, 5:00 to 6:00 PM and 6:00 to 7:00 PM IST, plus a longer 90-minute Sunday class from 3:00 to 4:30 PM IST. In United Kingdom that works out as, Wednesday & Friday: 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM United Kingdom (BST) (5:00 to 6:00 PM IST); Wednesday & Friday: 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM United Kingdom (BST) (6:00 to 7:00 PM IST); Sunday: 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM United Kingdom (BST) (3:00 to 4:30 PM IST).

How much do online Bharatanatyam classes cost from United Kingdom?

Fees are quoted in GBP (£) and charged monthly, with no joining fee and no long contract. WhatsApp us at +91 96116 21086 for the current fee for your child's age and level, and start with a free trial class before you decide anything.

Are online classes as effective as in-person classes for UK-based students?

For technique, theory, abhinaya and steady graded progress, live online classes work very well, the guru sees your posture on screen and corrects it in real time, and batches are kept small so every student is watched. Our UK-based students follow the same syllabus, the same assessments and the same repertoire as students in our Bengaluru studio.

Can complete beginners and young children in United Kingdom join?

Yes. We teach children from age five, teenagers, adult beginners with no dance background at all, and trained dancers returning after a break. Beginners in United Kingdom start with the foundational adavus and basic tala, exactly as our studio beginners do.

What do we need at home in United Kingdom to join an online class?

A laptop, tablet or phone with a camera, a reliable internet connection, and about two metres of clear floor space, a hard floor is better than carpet. Nothing else. We walk you through the setup during the free trial session.

Do you teach Sanskrit shlokas as well as dance to students in United Kingdom?

Yes. Our shlokas and devotional recitation programme is available online alongside the dance, and many families in United Kingdom take both, for children growing up outside India it is often the part parents value most.

How do we book a free trial online class from United Kingdom?

WhatsApp +91 96116 21086 telling us your city in United Kingdom, the student's age and any previous dance experience. We will confirm which batch suits your time zone and arrange a free trial class, there is no payment and no commitment before that.
